I hope that this Honduran Rosewood 14 by 5.5 inch snare drum is only the first of many instruments I am going to produce from this wood species. I really love the sound and feel of this drum, and the wood is a pleasure to work with and gaze into. A full kit based on this stock would be legendary.

With a bright and rich voice, this drum has a very large, dry center sweet spot. The tone becomes wilder and features some clang farther out towards the hoop. The rimshot sound is immense and truly heart palpitating, and the cross stick is warm, musical and crystal clear. With a little tighter tuning I can easily imagine this drum as the centerpiece of any funk or pop track. Slacker tension will reward you with a beefy rock or blues sound which you would expect from a much deeper drum.

The stock for this instrument has been air dried over many years, as opposed to being dried in a kiln in a few weeks. When managed properly, the advantages to air drying are a more intrinsically stable material with much richer and more vibrant color.
