Welcome
to the Stanbridge Drum Company, and thank you for visiting our new
website. We are a small, family-owned business located in Newfoundland,
Canada, near the Easternmost point in North America.
Our mission is to handcraft the finest wood drums
in the world. We invest a tremendous amount of time,
effort and care in each instrument, and our customers tell us
the result is apparent from the moment the drum case is opened.
Our focus is on building drums which, first and
foremost, sound brilliant -- but we also strive to create objects
of beauty. Our years of experience suggest which species
of wood, bearing edge profile or snare
bed will fulfil a client's objectives, but the wood itself often
directs the flow of the
visual design. The goal is to make each instrument the perfect
marriage of Art and Sound.
Stanbridge Drum Company was recently selected
by the world's largest drumstick maker, Pro-Mark, to design and
build their 50th Anniversary commemorative snare drum. This very
limited, very exclusive edition is the perfect marriage of our fine
artisan craftsmanship and the Pro-Mark aesthetic of quality and
style. Watch upcoming issues of magazines such as Modern Drummer
and DRUM! magazine for full details, or click
here to view our mini Pro-Mark 50th Anniversary drum page.
Our
limited edition series of Ancient Kauri snare drums have been of
particular interest to many customers and website readers. This
remarkable recovered timber has been radiocarbon-dated to over 50,000
years old, and has an incredible resonant voice which makes for
a dark, rich sounding instrument. See
the World's First Ancient Kauri drum here.
As always we'd love to hear your thoughts regarding
our instruments or website, so please feel free to drop us a line
when you are through browsing. Thanks again for visiting.
Sincerely,
Pete Stanbridge
