What's Warm and Gold and 50,000 Years
Old?

Above: 6 1/2" by 14" Limited Edition Ancient Kauri
snare drum with high gloss lacquer,
ebony hoops and Stanbridge Gold Plated Lugs and matching Dunnett
throwoff.
Recently unearthed in Northern New Zealand, Ancient
Kauri is the oldest known workable timber in the world. Perfectly
preserved in an acidic peat swamp, these mammoth logs rested undisturbed
for 50,000 years - surviving intact through the last Ice Age until
their discovery in 1987.
The depth of figure in these shells is stunning,
and hearing the sound for the first time is a welcome surprise.
Warm and pleasing in tone, the low fundamental of the Ancient Kauri
contributes to a rich and controlled resonance which makes this
an ideal instrument for a wide range of musical situations.
