Ziricote

One Hard and Heavy Snare Drum...

This big fella is a 14" by 5.75" drum made of Ziricote from South America. Our client wanted something unique, so he spec'd this instrument with a 1" thick shell and Sonor diecast hoops. A high-gloss lacquer finish highlights the reddish brown figure of this extremely hard timber.

The completed instrument weighs more than 14 pounds and has incredible crack and projection with a dry centre sweet spot, and a rich and ringy series of overtones around the outside.
