Now THAT’S a Plank.

I know, I know.... Why would anybody take a 14 inch wide piece of block mottled Bubinga like this and cut it into little tiny chunks? The answer is, of course, because it will make a spectacular sounding and looking drum which is naturally in round and which speaks with the tone that only solid wood can provide. This plank and a bunch of his friends are the basis of one of the drumkits which I am currently building.

The design calls for a center band of our client’s favorite wood - Birdseye Maple, finished in high gloss lacquer and sporting 24K gold hardware. There are 7 drums total in this rig, and I will be posting photos of the various stages of their construction over the coming months.

Order to shipping dates on a drum kit are roughly 6-8 months depending on the complexity of the design, number and size of the drums, and the availability of properly seasoned materials. Drop me a line if you would like more information.
