Bubinga and Birdy

I finished the snare drum for the Bubinga and Birdseye kit I am working on, and added a nice Flying V wood throwoff handle in matching materials. I’m building 7 drums for this rig, in the following sizes:
8x7, 10x9 and 12x10 rack toms, 14x12 and 16x14 inch floor toms, this 14x6 inch snare drum and a 22x18 inch kick drum.

As part of the project schedule, I like to ship off one drum (usually the snare) for approval from the client before we launch into the complete kit in earnest, in case we need to make any last minute design changes. I sent off the photos of this one last week prior to shipping it, and receive this message back....

Last night was funny-  I opened your email and my daughter was right next to me.  I guess I wasn't expecting photos and I scrolled down to them and when I saw the first one I let out a "holy shit!" without thinking.  Of course not 2 seconds later, she said "Daddy, that's not a nice word".  I assured her it was an accident- my little 4 year old watchdog!

Pete, you keep outdoing yourself, man!  The drum is absolutely jaw-droppingly gorgeous!  The woods look fantastic together and better than I ever imagined they would.  I have NEVER seen a strainer lever that unique and magnificent too.
